ARTIFACT:

This is a 1950s distinctive insignia for the United States 10th Engineer Combat Battalion. The DI is a crest with many symbols: two crescents representing General Scott's coat of arms, a gear wreathed by oak leaves, two crossed oars and an anchor (the insignia of the Engineers of the Army of the Potomac), and a 7 pointed Australian cap badge. The DI reads LABORAMUS SUSTINERE (we work to assist).

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel.

MARKINGS:

None.
