This is a 1930s United States Army distinctive insignia for the 55th Artillery Regiment. The DI is triangular and reads VIGILANTIA (vigilance) along its bottom border. At its center is a caterpillar beneath a double-headed arrow.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 7/8" in height and 1" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:Meyer maker's mark and N.S. MEYER INC. NEW YORK.
ITEM NOTES:The DI you receive will either be this one or one in very similar condition. This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAL90 LBHX3/11
CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The DI shows very light wear and tarnish.
