ARTIFACT:

This is a 1930s distinctive insignia for the United States Army 240th Coast Artillery Harbor Defense (now 240th Regiment), under the Maine National Guard. The DI shows a phoenix, part of the crest of the city of Portland, Maine, and a portcullis. It reads SEMPER PRIMUS ET FIDELIS (always first and faithful).

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Single screw post with hexagonal nut.

None.
