Description
This is a 1912 Maine YMCA lapel stud. The Association was started by a group of disillusioned young men in London in 1844 as a refuge from the social ills with which city life teemed. Nine years later the first American YMCA was set up at the old South Church in Boston, Massachusetts by a former sea captain. The shape of the stud resembles a wax seal as it is purposely slightly crumpled at the edges. The center of the stud shows an open triangle with a pine tree and reads MIND, SPIRIT, BODY.
