ARTIFACT: This is a 1912 Maine YMCA lapel stud. The Association was started by a group of disillusioned young men in London in 1844 as a refuge from the social ills with which city life teemed. Nine years later the first American YMCA was set up at the old South Church in Boston, Massachusetts by a former sea captain. The shape of the stud resembles a wax seal as it is purposely slightly crumpled at the edges. The center of the stud shows an open triangle with a pine tree and reads MIND, SPIRIT, BODY.

VINTAGE: Circa 1912.

SIZE: Approximately 11/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Lapel stud.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a YMCA collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay RAOV92 LBCX11/10 SLBHX9/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The pin has some light wear and very small spots of tarnish.
