ARTIFACT: This is a circa 18th century Japanese knife and bone chopsticks set. The knife handle and the case for both items is handsomely covered in tortoise shell. The knife and sticks are compactly sheathed inside the striking case and there are two brass bindings with a suspension ring encircling the top half of the case.

VINTAGE: Circa 1700s.

SIZE: Approximately 9-1/2" in length and 1/2" in width (sheathed).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Tortoise shell, brass, bone, steel, wood.

ATTACHMENT: Brass loop.

MARKINGS: N/A.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The set has mellow and attractive aging and only one small spot at the end of the knife handle where the shell veneer has come away.
