Description
This is a grouping from the United States Lighthouse Service, a precursor of the United States Coast Guard. The grouping includes two rank insignia patches, one hat badge, four photographs and an illustrated article about the lighthouse keeper's dog, "Sailor" from the July 29, 1900 Sunday Boston Globe. Sailor lived from 1888-1903 at the Wood Island Lighthouse off Biddeford Pool in Maine and would greet passing vessels by ringing the bell rope, as he had observed his master Mr. Orcutt doing.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Items are of expected materials, and patches are felt with silver ad gold bullion thread.

CONDITION:5+ (Fine-): Items are in various conditions, but aside from heavy tarnishing on the bullion and some missing bits of the patches, items are in good shape.
