ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1880s-1890s United States Life Saving Service surfman's hat badge. The badge's design is two oars crossed in front of a life preserver.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1880s-1890s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" square.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Single screw post with disc backing, washer, two stabilization post (one is missing).

MARKINGS:

None.

ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The badge shows some areas of light to medium wear and tarnish.
