ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1870s badge for the Long Island City (Queens), New York Fire Department Tiger Hose No. 8, which was used by Astoria Hose Company No. This nicely embellished shield-shaped badge is numbered 776 with a cool hose reel at its center.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1870s.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/16" in height and 1-9/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical kick pin (catch is missing).

MARKINGS:

8 on front.
