ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1900 Long Island City (Queens), New York Exempt Firemen's Association badge. The Association was founded in the 1890s and its first President was George Casey. The small shield-shaped badge is numbered 56 at the very bottom and shows some fire equipment at its center. It was made by Braxmar.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1900.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-15/16" in height and 1-3/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin (catch is missing).

MARKINGS:

56 on front; THE C.G. BRAXMAR CO. 10 MAIDEN LN. N.Y. on reverse.
