Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1870s or 1880s Long Island City (Queens), New York Volunteer Fire Department exempt fireman badge. The badge is numbered 295 at the very bottom. The center of the badge shows firefighting equipment in relief.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1870s-1880s.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical kick pin (catch is missing).

MARKINGS:

295 on front.

CONDITION:

6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The badge has some light wear and minor oxidation; catch is missing.
