Description
This is a circa 1870s or 1880s Long Island City (Queens), New York Fire Department Columbia Hook & Ladder No. 4 badge. The badge is numbered 10 at the very bottom. The center of the badge shows a hook and ladder in relief and two arms of the cross bear firefighting equipment.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s-1880s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin (catch is missing).
MARKINGS:20 on front.

CONDITION:6 (Fine+): The badge has some spots of light to medium wear and tarnish; some minor oxidation on reverse; catch is missing.
