Description
WWII United States Navy Model MK2 Fighting Knife by KA-BAR in very early type sheath. This second model served as both a combat weapon and utility knife, an ideal tool in the Pacific Theater with thick jungles. The knife was made primarily by the Union Cutlery Co., featuring a ricasso with their trademark "KA-BAR" (later to become the company name) stamped along with the letters "USN MK2". During wartime Union Cutlery Co. / KA-BAR produced over one million of these models for the US Military. This example features a handle of compressed leather disks, with some black paint remaining, featuring a steel pommel and guard, the blade is made of carbon steel. The sheath is all leather with a snap enclosure for the blade handle.
