This is a named, handmade World War II fighting knife in an M8A1 sheath. The knife is a commando-style dagger, and the soldier who carried it carved his name just below the handle (BEN).
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Whole piece including sheath has a 2-5/16" width and 13-5/16" length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel with resin sheath.
ATTACHMENT:Cotton strap with snap-on straps to hold in knife in place; wire hook to belt.
MARKINGS:BEN on knife hilt; U.S. M8A1 V.P. CO and VP 36 and H4 in painted on sheath.
