Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II private purchase fighting knife used by both the United States Army and United States Marine Corps. The knife is by Western of Boulder, Colorado and comes in a leather sheath. Western began in New York during the nineteenth century under another name, and was moved to Colorado and renamed in 191It was eventually purchased by Camillus Cutlery.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 10-7/8" in length and 2-9/16" in width at widest part (sheathed).

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Steel, wood, leather, brass.

ATTACHMENT:

Sheath: snap on strap, two slits on reverse.

MARKINGS:

WESTERN BOULDER, COLO PAT. NO. 1 967 478 on knife; GSG scratched on sheath.

CONDITION:

7- (Very Fine-): The knife shows some light to medium wear and a moderate tarnish; the sheath has some abrasion and moderate wear and a small spot of perhaps white paint near the tip.
