ARTIFACT: This is a World War II private purchase fighting knife used by both the United States Army and United States Marine Corps. The knife is by Western of Boulder, Colorado and comes in a leather sheath. Western began in New York during the nineteenth century under another name, and was moved to Colorado and renamed in 1911. It was eventually purchased by Camillus Cutlery.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 10-7/8" in length and 2-9/16" in width at widest part (sheathed).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, wood, leather, brass.

ATTACHMENT: Sheath: snap on strap, two slits on reverse.

MARKINGS: WESTERN BOULDER, COLO PAT. NO. 1 967 478 on knife; GSG scratched on sheath.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJX01 LHEX3/12 SFEX8/16

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The knife shows some light to medium wear and a moderate tarnish; the sheath has some abrasion and moderate wear and a small spot of perhaps white paint near the tip.
