Description
This is a hardcover copy of the United States Air Force World War II unit history entitled "40th Bombardment Group (VH)". This copy belonged to New Hampshire native George Shaw, 44th bomb Squadron, whose name is highlighted in the directory. The book documents the period from April 1944 through autumn 1945, when the 40th served in India, China And Tinian, in the Northern Mariana islands. There are several photos from their journey, including some aerial photography of decimated spots in Japan, and some always popular nose art. The back of the book has combat statistics and a full roster. It was published in 1949 by Newsfoto Publishing Company of San Angelo, Texas.
