Description
This beautiful plaque was handmade and painted by one of the resourceful Seabees serving the United States Navy's 96th Construction Battalion. This unit was stationed in the Azores during World War II. The wooden plaque is shield-shaped and shows a painted eagle perched on a 96 and an anchor.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:8-7/8" height and 8-3/16" width and 3/4" thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Painted wood.
ATTACHMENT:Two hooks with twine.
MARKINGS:J.R. CONNELL (?) A-3 handwritten on reverse.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Plaque has a few slight nicks at edge and slight discoloration on reverse.
