Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II pin for the Star & Garter Richmond Red Cross. In 1916, Queen Mary deeded the abandoned Star & Garter Hotel on Richmond Hill to the British Red Cross to be used as a place of care and refuge for disabled and injured service people. The pin is a golden starburst with an enameled red cross at its center encircled by a blue garter.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/2" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated brass with enameled areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal British-style kick pin with C catch.
