Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II EK (Eisernes Kreuz) Kl/Iron Cross 2nd Class. made by J. H. Werner of Berlin. The Iron Cross was reinstituted by Hitler, it having originally been a Prussian decoration. The Iron Cross was conferred for bravery in action and other meritorious military acts, and the 2nd class version hangs from a ribbon whereas the 1st class does not.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-3/4" height and 1-3/4" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass/tombak frame with steel center, silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT:

Ribbon, suspension ring.

MARKINGS:

137 (on ring).

ITEM NOTES:
