Description
Beautiful, early WWI Imperial German Iron Cross 1st Class Eisernes Kreuz Klasse (EKI) by AWS (A. Werner & Sons, Berlin) in sterling silver. The Iron Cross was awarded for bravery in battle as well as other military contributions in a battlefield environment. Early awards were given without regard to rank, however the recipient required the honor of the 2nd class prior to being awarded 1st class, the EKI was worn on the left breast.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver and paint.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with two piece disc backing, a larger disc secured by a smaller screwback.
MARKINGS:925 and AWS hallmark.
