Description
This is an instructor badge for the Signal Corps School Enlisted Men's Department at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Fort Monmouth was the United States Army installation from which Julius Rosenberg passed on secret plans to the Soviets. This badge would have been used during the time Rosenberg was at Fort Monmouth, from 1940 until 1945, when he was relieved of his post. Rosenberg and his wife were both convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage and executed in 195The badge is numbered 540 was made by Whitehead & Hoag.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Celluloid-wrapped tin.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
MARKINGS:540 on front; Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, NJ on reverse.
