ARTIFACT: This is a World War II Chinese Order of the Resplendent Banner 6th Class badge, which is accompanied by a rarely-encountered numbered outer box. Also known as the Order of Clouds and Banner, this award has nine ranks and dates from 1935. It is awarded for positive national security-related actions. The badge is numbered on reverse and shows an enameled yellow flag at the center of a starburst. There is a rosette on the red, white and blue striped ribbon. The name of the officer upon which the award was bestowed is type-written upon the label of the box, and the serial number is hand-written.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Medal: approximately 4-1/4" in height and 2-1/4" in width; case: approximately 1-1/4" by 3-9/16" by 6".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt and enameled silver, silk ribbon, silk lining, velvet-covered cardboard, cardboard with paper label.

ATTACHMENT: Ribbon, suspension ring.

MARKINGS: 1705 and Chinese characters on reverse of badge; MAJOR WALLACE B.R.(?) SMITH, OFF SER#)-290064 Chinese characters, 1705, SMITH on box.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge is in wonderful condition and the case has some light wear; outer cardboard box shows moderate wear and aging.
