Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II Chinese Order of the Resplendent Banner Seventh Class Officer badge with cravat and its accompanying ribbon bars in the original case. Also known as the Order of Clouds and Banner, this award has nine ranks and dates from 193It is awarded for positive national security-related actions. The badge is numbered on reverse and shows an enameled yellow flag at the center of a starburst. There is a rosette on the red, white and gold striped ribbon. The case is in a subdued shade of violet with a silk strip of ribbon affixed to its removable cover.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Badge: approximately 4-1/2" height and 2-1/4" width; box: approximately 6-1/8" height and 3-1/2" width and 1-5/16" in thickness.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Badge: silver with enamel, silk ribbon; ribbon bars: silk-wrapped cardboard, brass pin; box: silk-wrapped cardboard, silk, flocked silk.

ATTACHMENT:

Suspension ring, vertical safety pins.

MARKINGS:

Chinese characters and 1408.

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The badge is in beautiful shape with all enamel intact, a handsome tarnish and minor fading to the ribbons. There is moderate wear inside the lining of the case where the medal has rested for years. The top left-hand corner of the case has separated slightly and there are small spots of light to moderate wear elsewhere on the case.
