ARTIFACT: This is a World War I United States Navy dog tag made out of a Portugese coin. The tag originally belonged to Allen C. Johnson, and is dated August 26, 1918 on reverse. The coin reads REI DE PORTUGAL (King of Portugal) on the front: Portugal's monarchy was abolished in 1910. The photos have been lightened a bit to show detail - tag has a nice, deep coppery coloration.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Copper with heavy brown patina.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX13 VHEX2/13 LHEX13 SAAEX01/20

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The tag has moderate wear and shows some small spots of oxidation.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
