ARTIFACT:
This is a World War I United States single star "Son-in-Service" pin worn by mothers whose sons were serving in the war.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1917 - 1918.
SIZE:
About 3/4" in length by 3/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:
14 karat gold with red, white, and blue enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with Tiffany-style locking catch.
MARKINGS:
A Gothic R makers mark followed by 14K.
