Description
This is circa World War I United States Army Model 1917 trench fighting knife. This "knuckle" knife is dated 1917 on the underside of the guard and was manufactured by Landers, Frary & Clark (L. F. & C). The knife has a triangular, unfullered blade. It comes with its original leather scabbard with steel and brass hardware. The scabbard also has a maker's mark.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 14" in length and 4-1/2" in width; blade only: 9-1/16" by 5/8"; scabbard only: 10-3/4" by 2-7/8" (including hanger).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel, wood; leather, steel, brass.
ATTACHMENT:Hanger on scabbard.
MARKINGS:U.S. L.F.&C. (Landers, Frary & Clark) 1917 stamped under guard; M.S. on scabbard.
