This is a World War I shipyard volunteer lapel badge, which is oval and shows a merchant ship in relief at its center. It was made by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 13/16" in height and 1-1/4" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Copper.
ATTACHMENT:Lapel stud.
MARKINGS:"WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J." and union stamp.
