ARTIFACT: This is a French Croix de Guerre (Cross of War) medal with palm leaf and suspension bar in the 1914-1918 style. The medal was given in France and Belgium for heroic acts in the course of service. The medal is a cross with crossed swords and a woman's head at center and reads REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE on front and 1914 1918 on reverse. The ribbon shows a repeating thick green and narrow red stripe to denote World War I service and bears a palm leaf.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 3-7/8" in height and 1-3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze, silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT: Ribbon, suspension ring on medal, suspension bar (plunger-style).

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a French militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX12 LABEX12/12 SABEX7/14

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The medal is in wonderful shape with a handsome overall tarnish.
