Description
This is a French Croix de Guerre (Cross of War) medal with palm leaf and suspension bar in the 1914-1918 style. The medal was given in France and Belgium for heroic acts in the course of service. The medal is a cross with crossed swords and a woman's head at center and reads REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE on front and 1914 1918 on reverse. The ribbon shows a repeating thick green and narrow red stripe to denote World War I service and bears a palm leaf.
VINTAGE:Circa World War I.
SIZE:Approximately 3-7/8" in height and 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze, silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:Ribbon, suspension ring on medal, suspension bar (plunger-style).
