This is a WWI, 1916 dated, Iron for Gold Donation Medal. On front it shows a woman offering her gold jewelry to the Fatherland during its time of need (World War I), and reads IN EISERNER ZEIT "In a Time of Iron".
On back the medal reads:

GAB ICH ZUR
WEHR EISEN
NAM ICH ZUR
EHR
I Gave Gold for Defense, I Took Iron for Honor.
Artist's Signature at bottom: HOSAEUS
VINTAGE:
Circa 1916.
SIZE:About 1-9/16" in diameter (does not include suspension loop).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Cast Iron with a steel frame and suspension loop.
ATTACHMENT:Suspension loop for chain or ribbon.
MARKINGS:None.
