ARTIFACT:
Wonderful presentation Women's Relief Corps President and Member Badge Combination presented to Helen E. Mason, the Department of New Hampshire Women's Relief Corps President. The WRC is the women's auxiliary of the Grand Army of the Republic formed after the American Civil War. The top of the presentation ribbon shows the President's badge, the medallion is a Maltese cross with the enameled letters: "WRC" and the embossed date of "1888", the pinback reads: "PRESIDENT" in enameled lettering and the reverse reads: "PRESENTED TO HELEN E. MASON GREENVILLE N. H. BY DEPT. OF N. H. W. R. C. 1961-62". Suspended from the center of the pinback is an enameled medallion with the letters: "FLC" intertwined for: "Faith, Love, Charity", the WRC motto. The membership badge is also a Maltese cross with the words: "WOMEN'S RELIEF CORPS 1883" and beneath a number of membership year bars, six separate bars that read: "5 YEARS" and one bar that reads: "25 YEARS".
