ARTIFACT: Wonderful circa 1910 Portsmouth Brewing Company moose head and figural bottle opener. The end that pries off the cap is a moose head and the body of the opener is shaped like a bottle, complete with an engraved bottle cap detail at the end and reads: PORTSMOUTH BREWING COMPANY PORTSMOUTH, N.H. The reverse shows an anchor centered within a sunburst-like embellishment and reads: TRADEMARK. Beginning in the 1910's and continuing through the 1930's, many of the openers had a special modification added. It was a small square hole, which opened and closed the gas-powered Prest-O-Lite valves on the covers of the auto's headlamps.
