ARTIFACT: This is a fabulous circa 1910 advertising moose head bottle opener from Portsmouth Brewing Company. The end that pries off the cap is a moose's head and the body of the opener is shaped like a bottle, complete with an engraved bottle cap detail at the end. Beginning in the 1910's and continuing through the 1930's, many of the openers had a special modification added. It was a small square hole, which opened and closed the gas-powered Prest-O-Lite valves on the covers of the auto's headlamps.

VINTAGE: Circa 1910.

SIZE: Approximately 2-7/8" length and 7/8" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel

ATTACHMENT: Round hole for keyring attachment and square hole designed to open and close gas-powered Prest-o-lite valves on automobile headlights.

MARKINGS: G. T. & O. CO. CHICAGO on front and PATENTED and anchor TRADEMARK symbol on reverse.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a breweriana collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay-C11/15/19 VDJX10 VABEX1/11 SLIEX4/16

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The bottle opener shows light wear and moderate tarnishing.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
