ARTIFACT: This is a very rare circa 1900 advertising corkscrew/bottle opener for Portsmouth Ale, made by the Eldredge Brewing Company (EBC) of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Eldredge Brewing Company (first known as M. Fisher Brewing Co.) was established in 1860 and was a competitor with its neighbors, the Frank Jones Brewing Company, and Portsmouth Brewing Company (aka the Harris and Mathes Co.). The opener has a maker mark for Vaughan of Chicago.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 2-7/8 in length and 1/2 in width (when folded).

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Nickel-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Hole.

MARKINGS: MADE PATD IN USA VAUGHAN CHICAGO.
