ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1950s 17 jewel wristwatch by Waltham Watch Company. Manufacturing watches since 1850, the Waltham Watch Company operated under several names and in 1907 settled on sharing names with the second Massachusetts town to headquarter the company. The watch does run but could use a cleaning.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1950s.
SIZE:
Size 18. Face is approximately 1-1/16" square and 3/8" in thickness; total length is about 9".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated brass, steel, glass, leather.
ATTACHMENT:
Buckled strap, rectangular loops for wristband.
MARKINGS:
WALTHAM 17 JEWELS SHOCKPROOF SWISS on face; BASE METAL BEZEL STEEL BACK on reverse; 18 GENUINE LEATHER on strap.
