ARTIFACT:

What we have here is a lovely Waltham Watch Grade No. 620, Size 16s, Model 1899, 15 Jewels in a 20 Year Hunter Case. The watch has an elaborate monogram on the exterior, JAS, and is beautifully engraved on the interior to a Certified Accountant:

And perhaps the most interesting feature of the watch is the beautiful "Gibson Girl" whose portrait fills the enamel dial!

J. Angus Steven had a long career in Illinois: in Chicago at least through 1925, and still practicing in Wilmette in 1953, almost 50 years from his departure for Chicago!
