Description
This is a "tank" watch from the 1920s by the Waltham Watch Company, a Massachusetts outfit dating to 1854 that was once internationally known for its efficient timepiece designs and output. "Tank" refers to the rectangular shape of the watch, which resembles a tank from the air. Not to cause confusion, Cartier started the original "Tank" watch line in 1917.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Size 16: approximately 13/16" in width and 9-5/16" in length total and 3/8" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-filled, glass, leather.
ATTACHMENT:Wrist band with buckle, sliding loop.
MARKINGS:WALTHAM 21 JEWELS on face of watch; maker mark and 10K GOLD FILLED on reverse of watch; 16 H HIRSCH CAMEL GRAIN NO ALLERGY with cross symbol on reverse of strap; H/H+ on buckle.
