Very Rare WWI US Air Service (USAS) Pilot Helmet in Wool

This is a very rare World War I United States Air Service pilot helmet in olive green wool with great stitching and details, including ear flaps. It has a nice locking chin strap with a unique buckle. There is a San Antonio, Texas maker label sewn inside the twill lining.

Circa World War I.

Approximately 14-1/2" in height (from top to where wool meets cotton strap) and 10" width (when laid flat folded in half).

Wool, twill lining, leather liner, cotton strap, plated brass buckle.

Chin strap with locking clasp-style buckle.
