Description
This is a very rare circa 1938 pilot wing and hat badge 1st Issue for Mid-Continent Airlines, which was established in 1928 in Iowa, but became part of Braniff International Airways in 195Both pieces have bullion embroidery and the hat badge also has nice red and blue enameled details. .
VINTAGE:Circa 1938.
SIZE:Wing: approximately 1-1/4" in height by 3-7/16" in width; badge: approximately 2-3/16" in height by 3-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wing: wool felt, bullion embroidery; badge: wool felt, bullion embroidery, gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Badge: single screw post with disc backing.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Both pieces have some light wear and minor tarnishing; the badge has some minor glue residue on the lower section of wool.
