Unusual WWII US Merchant Marine Officer Overseas Cap Badge in Gilt Sterling

This is an unusual United States Merchant Marine officer's overseas cap badge from World War II. The badge is in gilt sterling silver, and has no hallmark but has great details.

Circa World War II.

Approximately 1-5/16" in height x 1-5/16" in width.

Gilt sterling silver.

Horizontal pin with come-under locking catch.
