Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an unused patch for the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, also known as the Blue Angels. Formed in 1946, the squadron adopted their nickname from the NYC nightclub of the same name. The patch reads BLUE ANGELS and shows a cloud with four F-4J Phantom IIs (which the Angels flew from 1969-1974) in the upper right half of a shield and the Chief of Naval Air Training insignia in the lower left half.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1969-1974.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-3/4" in height and 3-15/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully-embroidered patch on white twill in blue and gold cotton/silk/polyester threads.
