This is an unfired circa mid-1960s lighter for the United States Navy USS Bon Homme Richard CVA-3The Bon Homme Richard was an aircraft carrier launched April 29, 194The ship participated in air strikes against Japan before the close of the war. The lighter was made by Penguin of Japan and is in excellent condition. It has an applied enamel medallion bearing the famous words of John Paul Jones: "I have not yet begun to fight"..
VINTAGE:Circa mid-1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width and 1/2" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chrome-plated brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Hinge.
MARKINGS:High Quality Lighter "Penguin" NO. 19531 JAPAN on bottom.
