Uncommon Circa 1942 USAAF 33rd Fighter Group DI by Meyer (Massaro's Book #33B2)

This is a circa 1942 distinctive insignia for the United States Army Air Forces 33rd Fighter Group. The DI shows a flaming sword at its center and reads FIRE FROM THE CLOUDS beneath. The DI is by Meyer. It was listed in Jay Massaro's book on USAAF DIs as #33B2, and he termed it "e;uncommon"e;.

Circa 1942.

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

Gilt brass, enamel.

Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

N.S. MEYER INC. NEW YORK and raised shield mark.
