Description
This is a stunning early World War I Royal Flying Corps (RFC) sweetheart wing in yellow and white 15 carat gold. The RFC served as the over-land air arm of the British military during World War I. The fetching wing come in its original coffin-style jeweler's box. Adorning the wing are some green and red enameled areas on the wing and crown, delicate detailing of the feathers and mine-cut diamonds to form the letters RFC at center.
VINTAGE:Circa early World War I.
SIZE:Wing: approximately 13/16" in height and 2-1/16" in width; box: 4-1/16" by 2-3/8" by 1-3/16".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Yellow and white 15 carat gold (5 grams), enamel, mine cut diamonds, leather bound case, silk & velvet lined.
ATTACHMENT:Wing: horizontal T-style pin with C catch, chain, safety pin; box: hinge, locking catch.
MARKINGS:15 CT.
