This is a dated 1916-1917 sweetheart wing from the Royal Flying Corps, the over-land air arm of the British military during World War I. The pin shows the RFC insignia wreathed by laurel leaves and flanked by spread wings with a crown atop.
VINTAGE:Circa WWI.
SIZE:2-1/4" wing.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass with various colors of enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with come-under "C" catch.
MARKINGS:W.J.D. on reverse with three marks: an anchor, a lion and a lowercase R.
