Description
This is a gorgeous circa 1880s custom-made Newburyport, Massachusetts Assistant Marshal radiator badge. It is in fire-gilt cast brass with complete hand finishing and a massive T pin. A large badge, 3-3/16" by 2-9/16", with an even larger presence. The mate is on display at Newburyport Police Department (please see last photo - not for sale). Pictures do not do this badge justice, as the fire-gilding is stunning. A classic port village in Essex County in northern Massachusetts, Newburyport is one of the oldest settlements in the Commonwealth, established in 1635.
