ARTIFACT: This is a cool early World War II period Defense Police badge from Newburyport, Massachusetts. The badge is in the clamshell or sunburst radiator style, and is in a very flat construction. It has the City Seal at center and is numbered 78. A classic port village in Essex County in northern Massachusetts, Newburyport is one of the oldest settlements in the Commonwealth, established in 1635.

VINTAGE: Circa early World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 2-11/16" in height and 1-13/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, painted details.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin on bar, C catch.

MARKINGS: 78 on front.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old Massachusetts police and law enforcement badge collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCEM14 LHEX8/14

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some light wear; most of the painted lettering is missing.
