Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful circa 1860s or 1870s custom handmade Newburyport, Massachusetts Police coin silver octagon badge. It is hand-engraved with a radiating star at center and is numbered 7 within the star. It has a great T-style pin and an early usage of the forked catch. A classic port village in Essex County in northern Massachusetts, Newburyport is one of the oldest settlements in the Commonwealth, established in 1635.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1860s-1870s.

SIZE:

Approximately 2" in height and 1-15/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Coin silver.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical T-style pin, forked locking catch.
