ARTIFACT:

This is a sterling silver distinctive insignia by Meyer for the United States Army 238th Engineer Battalion. This insignia shows some tools and a lightning bolt breaking through a chain and reads VICTORIA PER CONSTRUERE (Victory Through Construction).

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

1-1/8" height and 15/16" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gold-plated sterling silver with red and white enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with come-under swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

STERLING MEYER NEW YORK with maker's mark.
