ARTIFACT:
This is a sterling silver distinctive insignia for the United States Army 6th Coast Artillery Regiment (Harbor Defenses) stationed in San Francisco during World War II. This insignia shows a prowling black bear and reads CERTO DIRIGO ICTU (I Am With a Sure Blow).
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
About 1-1/4" in height and 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:
Gold-plated sterling silver with black and orange enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical pin with come-under locking catch.
MARKINGS:
STERLING.
