Description
This is a sterling silver distinctive insignia for the United States Army 18th Coast Artillery Regiment Harbor Defense. This insignia shows a missile sailing over an octopus and reads TAM MARTE QUAM MINERVA (As Much by Courage as by Skill). Red enamel background has an interesting checkerboard pattern running through it.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:About 1-1/4" in height x 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver with red, yellow and black enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking catch.
MARKINGS:STERLING.
