This is a scarce circa 1917 United States Air Service (USAS) officer's branch of service insignia upon a device for the United States Signal Corps Aviation Section. The badge is a small wing upon two crossed flags with a torch, with hollow rivets joining the two insignia.
VINTAGE:Circa 1917.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated and lacquered brass.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with tongue-style C catch.
MARKINGS:None.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The insignia shows light wear, mostly to the reverse, and has a handsome tarnish.
